Global tech giant Twitter may witness an exodus due to the changes made by the owner and chief executive officer (CEO) Elon Musk, Reuters said, citing an Insider Intelligence report.
The report further stated that the monthly user could fall to 50.5 million in 2024, the lowest since 2014. The evacuation numbers could be the highest in the US compared to other countries.
"Users will start to leave the platform next year as they grow frustrated with technical issues and the proliferation of hateful or other unsavory content," Jasmine Ensberg, principal analyst at Insider Intelligence, said.
Due to the evacuation, Twitter may register a flat growth in revenues in the upcoming years, the company said.
The company has been subjected to controversies for the past few days. After the acrimonious takeover by the business tycoon Elon Musk, the company was seen to lay off nearly 7,500 employees. A few days back, it abandoned the Trust and Safety council, a group of nearly 100 civil and human rights organisations as part of its company restructuring process.
According to an AP report, Twitter said “Our work to make Twitter a safe, informative place will be moving faster and more aggressively than ever before and we will continue to welcome your ideas going forward about how to achieve this goal.” It also added that the Council is not the best structure to do this.
