This acquisition will enable Wiggles to grow its presence across India and accelerate the momentum for new product launches and augment its distribution network
Pet care brand Wiggles announced the acquisition of Capt Zack in a 100 per cent cash and equity deal. This acquisition underlines the growth potential in India’s burgeoning pet care start-up economy, which has seen the entry of several global companies and smaller players.
Speaking on the acquisition, Anushka Iyer, Founder and CEO of Wiggles said, “We firmly believe this acquisition will provide an impetus to our efforts and accelerate the momentum for new product development and launches while strengthening distribution. We welcome Mohit and the team at Capt Zack to the Wiggles family. We are elated with a development of this scale and look forward to leading India’s pet care story with quality and science.”
Founded in 2016 by Dr Mohit Lalvani, Capt Zack is amongst India’s earliest direct-to-consumer (D2C) entrants in the pet care category. Its chemical-free, ISO-certified product portfolio for cats and dogs includes hygiene, food, treats, accessories, toys and bedding products.
This enables the pet care platform Wiggles to expand into newer categories and markets. Given Capt Zack’s presence in the category of grooming essentials, it will continue to invest in R&D to develop and grow this segment further.
Lalvani said, “We are humbled to become a part of a brand that has achieved so much in a short span. The value that Wiggles introduced for pet parents is commendable. Given the substantial growth of pet ownership in the country, we are certain that the future is exciting and filled with innovation.”
Over the last year, Wiggles claims to have experienced over 100 per cent growth across its products and services while serving and caring for 7 lakh pet parents across India.
Founded in 2018 by pet parents, Anushka Iyer, Rajh Iyer and Venkat Mahadevan, it set up India’s first boarding, training and veterinary facility at Petsville in Pune, and its Wiggles Tribe is India's largest online and offline pet parent community that gives members access to experts like vets, behaviorists, nutritionists and trainers.
