Alliance Insurance Brokers has partnered with ridesharing company, Ola, to provide insurance security to the latter’s drivers. Through this initiative, the insurance service provider will provide insurance protection daily to almost 2 lakh Ola drivers while they are on duty.
These drivers can contact doctors 24x7 through Alyve Health platform from their app. In case of any unfortunate event like an accident or death, these drivers or their families will receive coverage for hospitalisation expenses, including outpatient department (OPD) expenses, income protection for viral infections and accidental hospitalisation, child education cover, etc.
The policy also protects the driver's family in case of sudden death from murder incidents. There have been instances where the driver’s family received insurance claims when the driver was murdered while on duty.
Arvind Kumar Sharma, associate director of Alliance Insurance Brokers, said, “Preventive action can potentially save the drivers many days of hospital stays and enable them to earn a consistent and predictable income. Many drivers meet with accidents and other challenges daily during their duty hours.”
Pranshu Diwan, senior director at Ola Insure, added that the ride-hailing company had sponsored the entire premium for its drivers. “Rs 5 lakh is provided as an insurance cover for death; Rs 1000 under hospi-cash per day and Rs 30,000 under OPD treatment, child education, etc., in addition to other benefits, including 24/7 doctor teleconsultation services," he added.
