In his speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also praised Indian industries for their participation in bringing innovations to the space sector
In his monthly broadcasting programme, 'Mann Ki Baat', Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Indian start-ups should consider exploring the space sector, as it is currently delivering a lot of opportunities to investors. In his speech, he also praised Indian industries for their participation in bringing innovations to the space sector.
"Earlier in India, the space sector was confined within the purview of government systems. Ever since, the space sector has opened for India's youth, revolutionary changes have started coming in it," PM Modi told in his speech.
"I also remember those old days, when India was denied the cryogenic rocket technology. But the scientists of India not only developed indigenous technology, but today with the help of it, dozens of satellites are being sent to space simultaneously," he added.
To bolster participation from the private sector, the central government opened the space sector to private players in June 2020. It also created a single-window as well as an independent nodal agency called The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre to get more engagements from private investors.
The PM also referred to the success of ISRO in terms of placing 36 satellites in space. On October 23, ISRO’s heaviest rocket Launch Vehicle Mark3 (LVM3) successfully placed 36 satellites in the orbit. Narendra Modi congratulated ISRO for the successful space mission.
